Bombay Sapphire flew in their Chief Mixologist from the UK to teach us a bit about mixing drinks.

Bombay Sapphire flew in their Chief Mixologist, Merlin, from the UK all the way to Toronto to teach some of Toronto’s “who’s who” a few mixology tips for the upcoming hot Toronto summer. You certainly won’t be out in the sun without a drink idea after watching this. We also spoke to Merlin about his incredible career traveling all over the world teaching people how to make drinks in style.

Random Fact: The event was actually at the late Ted Roger’s mansion in center of the city. Ted Rogers was the owner and CEO of Rogers Communications and also the fourth richest person in Canada- imagine what his house looked like! The current owner was generous enough to open his doors to the Bombay Sapphire team and the Notable TV cameras!

The Sapphire Collins is a definite must this summer, and so easy to make!

You will need the juice of one half of a lemon
Roll the lemon on a flat surface to allow more juice to squeeze out
Add about the same amount of sugar syrup (2 parts sugar, 1 part water, heat it up)
Add Bombay Safire (as strong as you would like your drink, we recommend 1.5 ounces.)
Add some ice
Top it off with some soda water

Voila!

The cocktails were paired with a fantastic assortment of tasty nibbles from Eatertainment’s menu. Eatertainment is Canada’s source for entertaining. Click on their link to access trends and recipes, and awesome entertaining ideas.
We were invited to Wyclef Jean's private concert to promote the Yele Haiti foundation and caught his first ever tweet live on stage.

Wyclef Jean hosted a private concert at the Barrel House in San Francisco, CA. There were no more than 150 people in attendance at this exclusive concert, making it an extremely intimate scene, and the place to be in San Francisco. A few notable things were happening during the Wyclef concert, in order of importance:

1. Wyclef was promoting and educating the crowd of his foundation that was created for underprivileged children in Haiti, Yele Haiti. Click on this link to learn more about the foundation and the things that Wyclef is promoting to help solve the civil turmoil in his home country.

2. Wyclef’s First Tweet … Ever! Yes, that’s right, Wyclef used Twitter for his first time ever – live and on stage at the concert! The crowd went wild as he “live-blogged” from the stage. Follow Wyclef on Twitter by searching @wyclef

3. Notable TV got the only interview from the concert …

Daily Challenge once again Paid it Backward for the Sick Kids Foundation with the most 'Coffee Acts of Kindness'.

The first Pay it Backward Day by Daily Challenge in April was immensely successful, so they decided to do it again.

The concept was the same: people paid it backward on September 30th at more than 170 Second Cup locations across Ontario by purchasing a coffee for the person behind them in line. But this time, the charity component was elevated a bit – each act of “coffee kindness” meant that $5 was donated to The SickKids Foundation. This was huge and the turn out was amazing. Everyone was smiling and buying each other coffees. Each person who did so received a number and had their photo taken. This made everyone feel as though they were contributing and really brought up the energy. It made the entire environment light up. The SickKids Foundation and Second Cup exceeded their goal. The turnout was incredible. We hung around the main location on Queen and John where live DJ’s, a red carpet, decorations and a whole lot of spirit surrounded Second Cup. A young boy wearing the SickKids t-shirt and using a cowbell to draw attention to the coffee shop tugged on everyone’s heartstrings. The amount of energy present at all times constantly attracted more people to the event. We spoke to some of the people at the event, representatives of SickKids and even contributed to the making of the coffee. It was a fantastic experience and certainly note worthy. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported the cause.

Our video of local celebrities, bloggers and everyday Torontonians showcases why they Pay it Backward. Check it out!

Operanation 6 celebrated the essence of Georges Bizet's Carmen in support of the education and outreach programs of the Canadian Opera Company.

Toronto’s urban elite filled the Isadore and Rosalie Sharp City Room at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts for Operanation 6 to celebrate Bizet’s most beloved opera, Carmen. The story of Carmen follows the life of a tempting seductress whose blind love with an inexperienced soldier leads to her ultimate murder by the jealous ex-lover. Carmen has become one of the most performed operas in the world.

Operanation was infused with Latin music and tango dancing and featured a stunning opera performance by Mezzo-soprano Lauren Segal, who starred as Carmen’s companion Mercedes in the show.

Servers circled the main room and upstairs with trays of delicious Spanish tapas and exotic cocktails while the bartenders were kept busy at the open bar. Attendees became celebrities at the Hello Magazine photobooth, took Spanish dance lessons, competed in a silent auction and left with luxury gift bags.

And to top it off, Canada advanced to the semi-finals with a 3-2 win over Slovakia (it was shown live upstairs, of course).

Can’t wait for the next one.

Arts & Culture expert Marcelo Cabezas takes you to the Interior Design Show to meet Allen Chan of The Design Agency and find fashion aficionado Marlene Schiff the radiator of her dreams.

In part two of our Interior Design Show coverage, Arts & Culture expert Marcelo Cabezas introduces us to Allen Chan of The Design Agency, a Toronto-based design studio definitely worth checking out for their unique style and innovative designs. Allen is also co-host of the HGTV’s Designer Guys.

Marcelo then caught up with fashion guru Marlene Schiff of Boutique LeTrou, a Queen West retailer showcasing some of the best fashion design talent Toronto has to offer. Within seconds, their interview turned into a quest to have Marlene walk away from the Interior Design Show with the radiator of her dreams courtesy of Jaga Canada (these designs are worth taking a look at!). Marcelo speaks with Mike and Bert of Jaga and, after some gentle persuasion, has them agree to send Marlene home with “something.”

Age 27

Most likely to be seen at : Toronto Design & Gala Events and on HGTV’s Pure Design as Design Assistant to Samantha Pynn.

What’s notable to you? I am a trend spotter, current events aficionado and popular culture enthusiast. I am devoted to being on top of what’s happening in and around the lifestyle and design scenes, as well as within the media. As an eager news junkie, I do my very best to discover and deliver all that is going on in our social network. Whether it be styling tips and tricks for you and your home, simple eco-conscious living styles, fabulous finds for your wardrobe and home, and who and what the who’s who are up to, I am on top of it.

Meet Julia: With great pleasure and fulfillment, I have experienced remarkable teachings and volunteer opportunities, and have participated in countless creative activities. I have achieved a degree with honors in Psychology and the Arts from Queen’s University, followed by a diploma of Interior Design at the International Academy of Design & Technology. Upon graduating I was awarded the role as Design Assistant on one of HGTV’s newer television shows, Pure Design. Working alongside the host, the magnificent and extraordinary Samantha Pynn, I have learned extensive styling and design practices. In addition, I was responsible for assisting on photo shoots for publication, as well as project management and trade organization. I have learned on-camera practices, and have been so fortunate to work with some of Toronto’s greatest producers, directors, designers, and writers. I continue to assist Samantha Pynn, behind the scenes on CityLine, and I maintain my own lifestyle blog as well as a contributing writer for the reputable and brilliant stylist, trend-reporter and editor, Arren Williams. Most of all, I love people. I love learning about what inspires them and their creative path, and I love learning the ways to living a life with style, substance, and with a light carbon footprint.

Notable TV Arts & Culture expert Marcelo Cabezas takes us to the Interior Design Show for a look at Audi's newest addition and an innovative piece by the Ministry of the Interior that mixes architecture and landscape.

We checked out this year’s Interior Design Show – Canada’s largest contemporary design event – to find out about the newest and most innovative international and Canadian products. Both emerging and established designers set up exhibits to highlight everything from international interior design to architecture and industrial design trends. Whether conservative or avant-garde, there was something there for everyone.

In part 1 of our IDS 10 coverage, NotableTV Arts & Culture expert Marcelo Cabezas takes us on a tour of the show and speaks to a few of the keynote speakers headlining the event. Marketing Director of Audi Canada Karsten Ruwoldt introduces us to Audi’s 2010 A5 convertible – their latest addition and the perfect vehicle for the upcoming spring season.

We also catch up with Jason McIsaac of Toronto-based Ministry of the Interior, which specializes in original, cutting-edge design. Jason introduces us to “Rolling Hills,” an innovative concept space he designed that blurs the line between architecture and landscape.

Stay tuned for the second part of our Interior Design Show coverage.
