Once upon a time little Lauren got a hold of her mother’s Chanel lipstick. She was three years old and had no idea that the magical little tube was the beginning of a life-long love affair with make-up. In her teens, Lauren spent all of her spare time performing on stage with the Toronto Youth Theatre. Among professional make-up artists, she discovered that she could turn her obsession into a career. In the summer of 2008, under the careful instruction of Toronto make-up goddess Victoria Radford, Lauren became a freelance make-up artist and began working for companies such as Yves St. Laurent and Bobbi Brown. Lauren is going into her final year at Queen’s University hoping to complete her BA in English Language and Literature. She loves to read and write and is happiest when lost in the pages of a magazine. When she eventually grows up, Lauren would like to be the beauty editor of a magazine and have a bathroom with enough space to keep her make-up.

The perfect mascara — which I’m still searching for. Learning new things about hair, makeup, and skin care. A trip to Sephora, the beauty department at Holts, or the makeup aisle at Shoppers—this can make any day better.

Most likely to be seen:

In Kingston I’m most likely to be seen trapped under a mountain of books and essays at my desk. When I’m home in Toronto, I can be found at any of the above locations telling myself to buy only what I need. It never works.
