Terry O’Reilly of Sudbury, Ontario graduated from Ryerson University’s Radio and Television Arts program in 1981 and has since climbed to the top of the advertising world. But this didn’t happen overnight; his first 60 resumes to advertising agencies were promptly rejected. O’Reilly speaks to us about the difficulties of permeating the advertising world and the importance of never giving up in this highly competitive industry.
Starting his career at a small radio broadcaster in Burlington, O’Reilly currently hosts “The Age of Persuasion” on CBC Radio One. His on-air broadcast takes the general public behind the scenes of the advertising world and explains the impact advertising has on everyday life. He also hosts conferences and panel discussions as an ad expert and has co-written “The Age of Persuasion: How Marketing Ate Our Culture.”
