The Junior Chamber International – Toronto Chapter hosted their monthly Evening with an Entrepreneur with founder and CEO of Official Community Kevin Leflar. Kevin was a former recording artist manager (including Blue Rodeo) who founded and co-owned a label distributed worldwide by BMG. In 1995, Kevin left the entertainment industry to work in high tech and has since become one of Canada’s best-known authorities on the impact of digital technology on the music industry. He is highly sought for speaking engagements and interviews.
Official Community is a leader in creating commercialized online communities for established recording artists. Using proprietary technology, they develop and own the artist-branded communities that go beyond your typical artist website or online store.
Kevin’s talents and abilities have led him and his team to build a line-up of clients such as Blue Rodeo, The Cranberries, Great Big Sea, Darius Rucker, and Godsmack, Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell, the Dire Straits’ Mark Knofler, Hawksley Workman, as well as Universal and Warner Music Canada.
Other executives in the official COMMUNITY family include the past manager of The Doors, Crosby, Stills and Nash, the co-founder of DeConstruction Records who released hits for Black Box, Republica and Death in Vegas, helped resurrect the career of Kylie Minogue, and acted as the General Manager of RCA records UK. Kevin’s team is known for signing big acts such as Meat Loaf and AC/DC and have played pivotal roles in running Canadian festivals such as Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto- the Rolling Stones concert, North by Northeast Music Festival and Conference and the Juno Awards.
